Statement of intent
I aim to produce a work a project theme of the "Landscapes". By doing this I shall demonstrate my thoughts, creativity and development. I chose landscapes because it can show both the rural and urban side to show off and so it can be easily be
viewed. For this I will go to London and Anglesey to get the best image as possible and show both rural and urban side of the country, I will have a year to visit the locations and try and get my photos perfect.
For my research, I first looked at Justin garner as he perfectly linked into my theme and then got my inspiration from him as he takes wonderful landscape pictures and won photographer of the year. He also focused on the theme of 'landscapes' and took photos of a sunset which made me feel like I was there as he used the rule of thirds, various ways he interacted with the camera like the aperture, shutter speed and showed how the waves carved into the rocks submerging them.
When I thought of landscapes I first thought of perennials like moss, flowers, lily pads, greenery and trees.
After I put more of a think about my project I realized there's a lot more to do. For example, I could document how I get there, shapes, angles and reflections.
The next thing what I thought of was London. The architectural over there is wonderful and I instantly knew it would perfectly fit into my urban landscape.
To show my progression through my work I will start in my home city of Ma
nchester and visit the European market what goes on once a year during the winter. When this occurs I shall show the different ethnicity and different foods to show on my photography channel.
I would like to show off a wide range of skill by showing techniques I will use a Canon 600D with an 18-55mm zoom lens a tripod, torch, phone light as well as natural light to balance it all out. With this, I will try and edit my photo on Photoshop
to try and make it more enhanced. As well as making it black and white and coloured.

Composition
This image is taken with the rule of thirds. we can see the lustrous green grass full with life and the peak of the harsh rugged mountains foreshadowing the small, Llanddwyn lighthouse in the background. We also see that the image has been taken during the day and a white house sat onto a hill leading up with a path from a vast golden wheat field. The photographer has used a large depth of field so every detail is shown. He has also lined the lighthouse up with the horizon to show more emphasis as well as cropping the image to the pathway is at the start of the image. As we see the photographer looking up at the lighthouse. The contrast of sea and the sky are split into fifty with soft lighting and harsh shadows.
Content
First, we see a golden filed full with wheat surrounded by a gorgeous beach blown with a bluster of constant wind. Going on we see a pathway leading up to a white house which is perched on top of a small hill as you're approached by the slabbed stairs you're surrounded by grass, gravel and dirt.
On top of the hill, we see sort of a smooth lighthouse with six windows and a brown roof filled with two chimneys. The grass and wheat are pushed towards the left showing us how rough the winds might have been.
Context
This image was taken during the early afternoon, in Llanddyn Island, Anglesey Wales.
on a windy but sunny day. The photographer may have done that to show us how heavenly and beautiful the place is. The atmosphere is surrounded by natural landscape and one man-made a structure which is eye-catching to the audience.
We can see that the image has a high aperture and possibly mounted on a tripod so that it has a steady and focused shot.
Connection
Connection This image links perfectly into my work as this is the type of photographs I want to take as it shows us the urban landscape which people in the rural barley get to see as it's mainly surrounded by building and houses.
This inspires me to show people around busy city areas on how a look at life is as in urban areas, how beautiful life can be.
Comment
I like this image because it shows us the natural world around us. It shows us peace around the world and shows how beautiful it is to places we haven't been giving us a serge to go and adventure the wild.

This image clearly shows us a factor what looks abandoned and stuck in time. This image first point out the large factory as it takes the majority of the image. At the front of the factory, we can see cranes which may have been used for boats what came down to drop off goods or supply. This looks like the back of the factory where goods may have been distributed globally this factory may have also been used during the world war where brave soldiers fought for their country, their family and their children later on.
composition
In this photo we can see the whole image focused in. We can see the cranes, broken windows, the water which is flat and a sky filled with clouds and most importantly a factory placed in the middle. In my opinion, I think that the the weather was a calm day which was slightly cloudy. The reason I think that is because the water wasn't rippling as much as it would have been in a windy day. In front of the factory we can see a walk way. A walk way which hasn't been touched in a long time. Overall, the image is in a harsh black and white which makes it look spooky and stand out which makes the reader wonder of what made it shut down.
context
This image was most likely taken during the afternoon as we do not see any sun nut only draped out clouds. The photographer has used black and white to make the image scary and make us think more deeply into the image. Making the audience ask themselves questions like why has the photographer used black and white? what is behind this image what went on in this factory and why's it abandoned.
Connection
The reason why I think this links with my photography exam is because, it can show the history of the place. For instance I am planning to do a picture of Manchester and the industrial revolution where Manchester will have factory and warehouses as it can show the contrast between then and now.
Comment
In my opinion, I don't like the image as it has no color. The reason why I would like colour in this image is because it will stand out more and be more attractive. The good thing about this is that you can see everything in detail as the photographer has used a good lens.

Beatles Abbey Road, 1969
This photograph was taken by Iain Macmillan in 1969. This photo shows us four men who were part of a band called the beetles a popular rock group. Their music inspired generations to come and were always number one on the charts.
The composition shows us four men walking across a black and white zebra crossing wearing different colours and outfits. One wearing blue and two others wearing black and one wearing white. If you look even closer into the photograph we can see someone who's barefoot. Maybe they've done this to show that there's equality everywhere and a person shouldn't be judged on what they're wearing furthermore we can see he is holding a cigarette and an undone buttons with no tie maybe telling us that he wasn't fussed about what people had has thought of him we can also see three of men walking in a perfect formation gut the one holding cigarette chooses to differ himself.
This was taken years ago and shows us as the audience the change what society has had in the following years. For example, in the background, we see cars which are 39 plus years old telling us how bad the environment could have been and the number of fuels which would have tremendously damaged our ozone layer. Secondly, we see how the fashion trend has changed through the following years, how long hair partly took over the whole of the u.k because of the popular rock band called the beetles.

My plant image

The 5cs
This was taken many months ago to show us that Nature is not always beautiful and always will have its bad sides.
for example death in the plant. we can tell by this plant. It doesn't glimmer like it once did but left behind
its remains. This was recently taken by the photographer to show the world that it's not always beautiful.
Justin Darner, the outdoor photographer for the year has
taken this stunning photograph.
This shows us the remains of a dead flower with its leafs crisp, middle worn and its stem black.
This stem tells us that it is lifeless, delicate and dim remain of the lifeless plant.
The depth of field focus in on the middle of the flower.
The pistol, also known as the center of the flower normally thrives with life-giving off a beautiful,
bright yellow colour when its healthy and producing pollen to attract the insects.
Instead, the colour has been saturated giving off
an unpleasant creamy beige hue with its eggs plucked out to start a new life for its seedlings.
The photographer has used depth of field to blur everything out.
The dead plant Is the only thing we see.
Making us feel that nature is more powerful in many ways.
Showing it has a dark presence as well.
The photographer probably has taken this inside a studio mimicking the shoot many times.
He has probably taken it is different angles to get the strongest view possible,
it might have taken hours of waiting to get the best natural light
and location to get the best light as possible as they're the most vital.
The photographer has used the methods of putting a camera onto a tripod so it is completely still
and used a very slow shutter speed and a high aperture to achieve a strong depth of field blur.

This bit relates to me as I took two similar photos to this of a dead plant. The image shows us that
plant life is not always beautiful and at the end of it a plant can become grey, wrinkled and ghastly
the texture of the plant shows that both plants are dried out and dead.
I think that the photographer has shown us a dark side to nature to emphasise the point that it isn't always beautiful.
From this, we can see that the plant could have died from a numeral of things from no minerals, no water, no sunlight or acids from deadly pollution sites just next to a factory or nuclear reactors.
The thing that points out to me the most is the depth of filed as it blurs out the background.
As an addition to this, it illuminates the plant itself showing us the dark and hideous purple.

Anglesey - London
During the winter I set off to an expedition to Anglesey Wales to get a soft glow of the natural atmosphere of cliff sides, beaches, waves, woods as well as the sunset. The rocky landscape allowed me to take a photo of the slabs poking out, unravelling the seaweed limpets and muscles attached to the underside of the rock. The winter scenery also allowed me to dictate the change of the settings into my camera as it was used in manual enhancing the shutter speed, shutter speed and the depth of field as we went to three different beaches all throughout Anglesey showing off the rural landscape in my
photography piece.
Whereas London showed a rich rural landscape during the scorched summer Of Friday 6th June 2018.
allowed me to develop my skills in photography with making the lighting just right as if it was too bright it would blur my image not allowing me to get the quality I would want by manipulating the settings in my aperture I captured gorgeous city of London from a eagle eye view showing us the shard, skyscrapers in development, the River Thames and the hundreds of years worth of development In London. From an eye to eye side of London I found the mozaches on the sealing of Saint Pauls allowing us to see stories, as well as wealth found in the gold, plated pieces.

BestI like this image as it follows the rule of thirds and how the statue is in focus. However everything else in the background is blurred making it a alright image.

WorstIn my opinion I think that this photo is the worst out of the collection as it's bleached and too white not making me satisfied with my photography. Labeling it the worst.

"Landscapes", this is the third project I have worked on since I started my photography course. It has been a year since I started this project and I can confirm that it was my favourite as we went to many different places such as Anglesey in February 2018 and London in July as I learnt to take better pictures and show the contrasts between rural and urban areas. During the festive period of Christmas more images were taken and I decided to show the contrast of Manchester during the industrial revolution where Manchester was littered with factories compared to now where there are a lot less
Throughout this project, I have gotten multiple ideas on what to with my projects and how to expand them as a lot of effort and thought has gone through every click of the camera. Most of my work has been done because of inspirational photographers through Instagram where I have seen manipulated images as well as normal ones which looked phenomenal. From this, I have learned how to manipulate and express my views in one image. Because of this, it has allowed me to use my imagination to the max as a lot of places have allowed me to capture different views of them manipulated in my head as I have now learned how to use more tools such as the layers, filters, way around how to crop an image enhancing it giving me a sign of hope as I feel as if I'm developing through every Photoshop I do as I have learned how to blend a image so it doesn't look cheap nor unprofessional which is important to me as it can degrade my grade.
This project has helped me develop my ideas on Photoshop and manipulation which have helped me boost my grade. An example of this can be how I started putting history in images and shown the contrast of the past. In my opinion, I feel as if I was highly successful and old history in a modern day picture is hard to find as it took me 30 minutes to find three or four like mine.
If I was to go back and do more I would definitely go to more places as well as abroad so I can capture the contrast in other countries compared to England. Also to be able to make more manipulated images so that my grade would be improved and so that I would aspire more with my current skill. But, I have enjoyed my overall experience and would go back and do it again if I could.
